Beyond the Raw Bar: How SeaSalt Oyster CompanyCreates an Interactive Guest Experience

Vendor Spotligh SeaSalt Oyster Bar

For us, SeaSalt has always been about hospitality first. We just happen to really love oysters.

We started SeaSalt with a pretty simple idea: serve really good oysters, take great care of people, and make it fun. We come from a hospitality background, so we wanted to create something that felt like more than just putting a raw bar in the corner of an event.

We wanted people to hang out, ask questions, try something new, and actually have an experience.

One of our favorite things is the guest who walks up and immediately says, “I don't eat oysters.” We usually

say, “That's okay!” But then they start watching us shuck, asking questions, seeing what everyone else is

trying...and pretty often, they end up giving one a shot.

Sometimes they love it. Sometimes they don't. But they had fun trying it and that's kind of the whole

point.

Bringing the Raw Bar Into the Party

We offer stationary raw bars for weddings, private parties, corporate events, yacht events, and larger

events. Everything is shucked fresh, right there in front of the guests.

But one of the things we have the most fun with is our roaming oyster shuckers.

Instead of making everyone come to the raw bar, we bring the oysters to the party.

Our shuckers walk around during cocktail hour or throughout the event, talking with guests and shucking

oysters for them right on the spot. It's food, but it's also entertainment. People want to watch, ask

questions, take pictures, and know what they're eating.

And honestly, there's just something fun about having a fresh oyster shucked for you while you're standing

there with a glass of Champagne in your hand.

We can also add roaming caviar service, which takes things up another notch without making it feel overly

formal.

That's really the vibe we love a little fancy, but never stuffy.

We Love Talking About Oysters

You don't have to know anything about oysters to come to our raw bar. That's what we're there for.

Actually, we love when people ask questions.

Where is this oyster from? Why is this one saltier? What's the difference between Maine and Massachusetts oysters? What exactly is a mignonette? Which one should I try?

There's a lot more to an oyster than most people realize.

Where it's grown, the water temperature, salinity, currents, and surrounding environment all play a part in

how it tastes. That's why oysters from different areas can have completely different flavors.

We source our oysters from reputable farms throughout the Northeast, including Maine, Massachusetts,

and Canada, and we love being able to tell guests a little about what they're eating.

The other part we really enjoy talking about is what oysters do for our waterways.

Oysters are pretty amazing little creatures. They're natural filter feeders, which means they're constantly

filtering the water around them. Oyster reefs also create habitat for fish, crabs, and other marine life and

are an important part of healthy coastal ecosystems.

Being based in South Florida, we obviously have a pretty strong connection to the water. So for us, it's fun to serve something we love while also getting to talk about why oysters are so important to our waterways.

Now for the Really Important Part...the Sauces

We make our mignonettes and sauces in-house because that's another place where we get to have a little

fun.

Our Thai chili mignonette is always a favorite. We also make a watermelon jalapeño mignonette, which

is fresh with a little kick and just feels very South Florida. And we make our own cocktail sauce for the

people who like to keep things classic.

Then there are the pairings.

Oysters and Champagne? Always a yes.

Depending on the event, we can incorporate Champagne and wine pairings, different oyster varieties,

our house-made mignonettes, and caviar.

Every event is different, so we like being able to change things up.

Weddings, Yachts, Corporate Events — We're In

SeaSalt works for all kinds of events, and that's one of our favorite things about it.

At a wedding, roaming shuckers during cocktail hour are a really fun surprise for guests.

For a waterfront party, maybe it's a beautiful stationary raw bar where everyone can gather.

For a corporate event, the oyster bar gives people something to do and talk about besides the usual small

talk.

And oysters and caviar on a yacht? We don't really need to explain that one.

We work alongside planners, caterers, venues, and other event professionals to figure out what makes

sense for each event. We're not there to take over the entire food program. We're there to bring in

something different and make it easy for everyone involved.

That part is really important to us.

Hospitality isn't only how you treat the guests. It's also how you work with the planner, the caterer, the

venue staff, and everyone else behind the scenes.

Show up prepared. Communicate. Be flexible. Help when you can. Take care of people.

That's hospitality too.

Have Fun With It

If we could give couples or event hosts one piece of advice, it would be this:

Have some fun with your food.

Not everything has to be a traditional buffet or passed appetizer.

The best events have little moments guests weren't expecting.

Maybe that's a roaming oyster shucker appearing during cocktail hour. Maybe it's trying caviar for the first

time. Maybe it's discovering you actually love a Maine oyster with watermelon jalapeño mignonette and a

glass of Champagne.

Those are the things people talk about.

And that's really what we want SeaSalt to bring to an event.

Great oysters. Great people. A little education. A lot of interaction. And hopefully a few guests saying, “Okay, give me one more.”

At the end of the day, we're in the hospitality business. Oysters are just our favorite way to do it.

About SeaSalt Oyster Company

SeaSalt Oyster Company is a South Florida mobile oyster company bringing fresh oysters and a fun,

interactive raw bar experience to weddings, private parties, corporate events, yacht events, and large-scale

celebrations. We offer stationary raw bars, roaming oyster shuckers, caviar service, house-made

mignonettes, and wine and Champagne pairings, with a focus on great oysters, genuine hospitality, and making sure guests have a really good time.

A. Marie Events & Design Perspective

At A. Marie Events & Design, we believe the most memorable celebrations aren't created by simply filling a room with beautiful things. They're created by thoughtfully considering what guests will see, taste, feel, discover, and remember.

That's exactly what stands out to us about SeaSalt Oyster Company.

SeaSalt takes something that could easily be treated as another food station and turns it into an interactive guest experience. Their roaming oyster shuckers, stationary raw bars, house-made mignonettes, caviar service, and Champagne and wine pairings give planners another opportunity to create an unexpected moment within an event.

Imagine cocktail hour at a waterfront wedding: guests are mingling with Champagne in hand when a roaming shucker approaches and prepares a fresh oyster right in front of them. There's conversation. There are questions. Someone who has never tried an oyster decides this is the moment to do it.

Suddenly, an hors d'oeuvre has become part of the entertainment.

Those are the moments we love to design around.

We also appreciate SeaSalt's understanding of hospitality beyond the guest-facing experience. Exceptional events require collaboration behind the scenes. A specialty vendor who understands the importance of communicating with the planner, coordinating with the caterer and venue, arriving prepared, remaining flexible, and respecting the overall flow of the event is invaluable.

It's an approach that aligns naturally with our own philosophy at A. Marie Events & Design: protect the experience.

SeaSalt would be especially well suited for waterfront weddings, sophisticated cocktail hours, yacht celebrations, corporate receptions, private events, and intimate gatherings where hosts want to offer guests something elevated without making the experience feel overly formal.

Because luxury doesn't always mean adding more.

Sometimes it's a freshly shucked oyster, a house-made watermelon jalapeño mignonette, a perfectly paired glass of Champagne, and an unexpected conversation between guests.

Luxury is defined by intention and experiences like these are exactly why the details matter.
